A bit of background

UK Athletics initially developed their successful partnership with the Mauve team over a decade ago. The partnership blossomed with synergy for the prize event of the sporting world. The Olympic Games, held in London in 2012. Following the unparalleled success of the games, UK Athletics evolved to become British Athletics, with Mauve members playing an important role in the revolutionary rebrand. Since then, the two have worked together on the full Indoor and Outdoor events calendar including the Anniversary Games and special event such as the one staged at Horse Guard parade. With the World Championships and Para Athletics coming to London in 2017, Mauve were again on hand to provide both design and print support to the marketing & media teams.

The brief

British Athletics naturally have a lot of challenges for every event they host. The World Championships for example required;

A clear time line of events and achievements from the winning bid all the way to the closing ceremony.

A dynamic design for the brand to be seen by millions around the world. The brand had to set the Championships apart and inspire followers.

Utilise premium materials and finishing options to present the content in the most attractive and informative way

Prompt turnarounds on constantly changing deadlines.

Our solution

Given the relationship built over a long period of time, British Athletics knew that Mauve was a supplier to rely on.

The design team produce at least 3 different designs concepts for every project and this provides a good foundation for discussion as we move the ideas forward.

Being a varied team that habitually enjoy sports, the Mauve team are fans first and foremost. Seeing work from a fans perspective helps to make it truly relevant.

Given the significance of the Championships, organisation, speed and reliability are key. These are values that Mauve strongly believe in.
